The Radiation Protection Authority (RPA) is a statutory body established under Section 5 of the Ionising Radiation Protection Act No. 16 of 2005 (the ‘Act’). RPA’s mandate is to provide for the protection of the public, the worker, and the environment from the harmful effects arising from the use of materials or devices capable of producing ionizing radiation.
In the recent past, the RPA has had a number of its licensees make cash, check, or electronic payments to the RPA bank accounts without indicating the names of the institutions making the payments on the bank reference.
This has resulted in a challenge in reconciling and tracking these deposits, as they do not have supporting information like the name of the institution.
This in turn causes a delay in the issuance of licenses, as these amounts will only be tracked once the client comes through and declares that the payment was made by their institution.
In view of the above and to rectify the above concern, the Authority wishes to inform all its esteemed licensees to ensure that they indicate the name of the institution on the reference for all cash, cheque, and electronic transfers they deposit in the RPA Bank account.
Further, we request that after payments are made, all deposit slips and proof of payments are either delivered to the RPA offices or sent electronically to accounta@rpa.gov.zm.
Your cooperation in the above matter will be highly appreciated.
